PM1
PM1 measures the concentration of ultrafine particles smaller than 1 micron in
the air and provides insight into the smallest and most invisible pollution within a space.
What is PM1?
PM1 is the measurement of airborne particles with a diameter of less than 1 micron, typically expressed in micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³). These particles are so small that they are invisible to the eye and can travel deep into the lungs, and possibly into the bloodstream. In commercial buildings, PM1 mainly comes from combustion sources such as traffic, smoke and cooking, as well as office equipment like laser printers. Measuring PM1 helps building, workplace and facility teams detect hidden particle pollution and see how well ventilation and filtration are working.

Why does PM1 matter?
PM1 isn't just dust in the air. These are the smallest particles we measure, and their size makes them among the most harmful to occupant health.
Protect occupant health
Because of their tiny size, PM1 particles can penetrate deeper into the body than larger particles, and are linked to respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Keeping PM1 levels low helps protect employees, students and visitors from long-term health effects.
Uncover invisible pollution
PM1 can't be seen or smelled, so high levels often go unnoticed. Monitoring reveals when and where particles build up, whether from outdoor traffic, printers or kitchens, so you can take action before pollution affects the people in your building.
Choose the right filtration
Not all filters are effective against the smallest particles. PM1 data shows how well your HVAC filters perform in practice, helping you choose the right filter class and confirm that your investment in cleaner air actually delivers.
PM1 over time
Track ultrafine particle levels across rooms and buildings in real time. See when traffic, printers or cooking cause PM1 to rise and follow trends over time, so your team can improve filtration and keep the air clean for everyone inside.
