Established in 2008, Airthings is a global tech company led by a team of experienced scientists, engineers, developers and visionaries, with a common goal: to educate on the prevalence of radon, as well as other indoor air contaminants, and develop accessible technology solutions to help people stay healthy while improving energy efficiency in our buildings.

Back in 2008, CERN scientists with a specialization in radiation started working together to make a difference. The idea was simple. Combine science and technology for an honest purpose. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, but to test for it was expensive and ineffective.

Our team, at the time called Corentium, decided to invent a brand new radon detector that was digital, battery-powered, and provided long-term and short-term measurements.

In 2011 we launched ’Corentium Home’- the world’s first digital radon detector.

In 2016 the company rebranded as Airthings and branched out into a wider spectrum of air quality monitoring. That same year, we launched the Wave series of air quality monitors. They were still battery operated, offering short and long-term measurements - now connected to the cloud and a consumer-friendly smartphone app.

In 2019, as the demand for consumer monitors is evident, we wanted to go one step further. To ensure your workplace, as well as your home, was safe from toxins and chemicals in the air.

Airthings for Business was born in 2019 and the first offices, schools and public buildings adopted the solution.

Now, Airthings employs over 90 people in offices around the world. With 300K+ monitors sold internationally and billions of air quality data points collected, Airthings is the global leader in “all things air.”
