New Partnership Unlocks HSA and FSA Spending for Essential Air Quality Monitors, Making It Possible to Use Pre-Tax Health Funds to Protect Your Home
OSLO, NORWAY – (May 29, 2026) – Airthings, creators of the best-selling indoor air quality and radon monitors trusted by more than one million homeowners worldwide, today announced a new partnership with Truemed, the leading HSA/FSA marketplace for preventive health products. Now, for the first time ever, you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to purchase select indoor air quality and radon monitors using pre-tax healthcare dollars.
Airthings’ partnership with Truemed marks a major milestone for both companies, representing the first time that radon monitors will be HSA/FSA-eligible for consumers in the United States. Airthings products initially available through Truemed include Corentium Home, the best-selling battery-operated radon detector on the market; the next-gen, smarter, more connected Corentium Home 2; Airthings’ flagship View Plus indoor air quality monitor, View Radon, Renew air purifier & filters, and the Living Room + Basement Bundle, with plans to expand the list of eligible products in the coming months.
“We are delighted to partner with Truemed, a transformative and innovative platform in the preventative health market, to improve access to radon monitoring for millions of Americans,” Ivar Krogherud, CEO of Airthings
Ivar Kroghrud, CEO of Airthings, comments: “While many people may know of radon from real estate or construction experience, the impact of this carcinogen is far more expansive than most realize. By partnering with Truemed, radon monitoring can now be valued and recognized as a medical necessity to actively prevent lung cancer, consistent with other health expense products that diagnose, treat, mitigate, or prevent health conditions.”
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. According to the EPA, radon exposure is responsible for approximately 21,000 deaths per year. An estimated 1 in 15 homes has radon levels above the EPA’s recommended action threshold of 4 pCi/L. Despite the fact that radon exposure is a directly actionable, preventable cause of lung cancer, awareness and adoption of continuous monitoring for radon has not been treated as a healthcare priority in the US marketplace. By partnering with Truemed's HSA/FSA platform, Airthings is expanding how people can access radon monitoring, with a goal of encouraging earlier detection and mitigation to minimize the costly burden of lung cancer.
Truemed works with more than 3,000 health and wellness brands, including Peloton, Eight Sleep, Nike Strength, and Oura, helping consumers use pre-tax HSA/FSA funds for products that support preventive health. Backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners, Truemed connects eligible consumers with licensed medical practitioners who can issue a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), enabling qualifying purchases to be reimbursed through HSA/FSA programs.
"We're seeing consumers increasingly prioritize proactive health solutions that address the environments they live in every day," said Justin Mares, CEO of Truemed.
"Airthings is a natural fit for our lineup of offerings for the preventive home health movement because improving indoor air quality and reducing radon exposure can play a meaningful role in long-term respiratory and overall health outcomes."
Eligible customers can save an average of 30% by using pre-tax HSA or FSA dollars toward qualifying Airthings purchases. More than $150 billion currently sits in HSA and FSA accounts across the United States, much of it going unused each year. The reimbursement process is designed to be simple and seamless. After purchasing an eligible Airthings product through the Airthings US store, customers can complete a short health questionnaire through Truemed. If approved, customers typically receive a Letter of Medical Necessity within 24 hours, which can then be used to submit an HSA/FSA reimbursement claim. There is no additional cost to use Truemed’s service.
Airthings’ HSA/FSA-eligible products are now available through the Airthings US online store. To learn more about eligible products, reimbursement requirements, and how the Truemed process works, please visit the HSA & FSA-eligible product hub Airthings.com and Truemed.com.
