Humidity High humidity promotes mold growth and aggravates asthma symptoms, while too-dry air can lead to skin and throat irritation.

Why two monitors, not one

Where you live and where you sleep need different air

Indoor air quality changes by room. CO₂ rises overnight in a closed bedroom. Cooking, candles, and cleaning products spike VOCs and particulates in the living room. The Airthings View Plus + Wave Enhance bundle pairs comprehensive air quality monitoring in the family room with sleep-focused tracking in the bedroom — two rooms, two roles, one app.

Two-room indoor air quality monitoring with the Airthings View Plus and Wave Enhance bundle.

Living room — where your family gathers

The living room is where families spend the most time together — and where indoor air quality is shaped by cooking, candles, fireplaces, cleaning products, and outdoor air drifting in through windows. The Airthings View Plus tracks seven indicators here, including radon, PM2.5, CO₂, VOCs, humidity, temperature, and air pressure, with a built-in display for at-a-glance readings.

Bedroom — where your body recovers

The bedroom is the room where indoor air quality has the most direct impact on health and recovery. CO₂ naturally rises in closed rooms overnight, which can disrupt deep sleep and leave you waking up tired. The Airthings Wave Enhance monitors CO₂, VOCs, humidity, temperature, air pressure, ambient noise, and light, with a daily Sleep Disruptors™ report in the Airthings app.

Why bedroom air matters

Why does bedroom air quality matter for sleep?

Bedroom air quality directly affects how deeply you sleep and how rested you feel the next day. CO₂ buildup, dry or humid air, ambient noise, and light all influence sleep depth — and they're easier to fix once you can measure them.

  • CO₂ above 1000 ppm impairs cognition and sleep quality. Harvard and LBNL research found measurable declines in decision-making performance once indoor CO₂ crosses 1000 ppm — a level closed bedrooms regularly exceed overnight.
  • Sleep-friendly bedroom temperature: 60–67°F. The Sleep Foundation recommends keeping bedrooms cool, with around 65°F as the typical sweet spot for most adults.
  • Indoor humidity sweet spot: 30–50%. The EPA recommends keeping indoor humidity between 30% and 50% to limit mold growth, dust mites, and other allergens.
  • Ambient noise and light affect sleep depth. The Airthings Wave Enhance tracks both alongside air quality so you can isolate the disruptor.

Setting up your monitors

Where should you place each monitor?

Place the Airthings View Plus in the living room, away from kitchens, fireplaces, and HVAC vents. Place the Airthings Wave Enhance on a bedside table or wall-mounted near the bed, 40–70 inches above the floor and away from vents, fans, windows, and doors.

  1. 1

Place View Plus in the living room

Set the Airthings View Plus on a shelf, side table, or mount it on a wall in the main living area. Keep it away from the kitchen stove, fireplaces, candles, and HVAC vents — these can skew PM2.5, VOC, and temperature readings. Plug it in via USB-C to enable hub functionality for the Wave Enhance.

  2. 2

Place Wave Enhance in the bedroom

Set the Airthings Wave Enhance on a bedside table using the built-in stand, or mount it on a wall nearby using the included tape strips. Position it 40–70 inches above the floor, never higher than 6 feet 5 inches, and at least 3 feet from vents, fans, windows, or doors so the monitor reads the air you actually breathe overnight.

  3. 3

Connect both to the Airthings app

Download the Airthings app for iOS or Android and follow the in-app setup for each device. When the View Plus is plugged in via USB-C and connected to WiFi, it acts as a hub for the Wave Enhance — enabling remote readings, alerts, and the daily Sleep Disruptors™ report from anywhere. The VOC sensor on the Wave Enhance calibrates over the first 7 days of use; CO₂, humidity, temperature, pressure, noise, and light are accurate from day one.

Do

  • Plug the View Plus into USB-C to enable hub functionality for the Wave Enhance.
  • Place the Wave Enhance close to where you sleep, at breathing height.
  • Give the VOC sensor 7 days to calibrate before trusting trend data.

Don't

  • Mount the Wave Enhance higher than 6 feet 5 inches from the floor.
  • Place monitors within 3 feet of vents, fans, windows, or doors.
  • Place monitors in kitchens, bathrooms, or laundry rooms.

Bundle FAQ

Questions before you buy

Straight answers about sleep, placement, and how the Airthings View Plus + Wave Enhance bundle compares to single-monitor setups.

Why do I need two monitors instead of one?
Indoor air quality varies significantly by room and by activity. The living room is shaped by cooking, candles, and family activity; the bedroom is shaped by ventilation, occupancy, and CO₂ buildup overnight. The Airthings View Plus tracks comprehensive air quality in the living room, while the Airthings Wave Enhance focuses on the sleep environment in the bedroom. One monitor in one location cannot tell you what's affecting your air across the home — or your rest.
What is the Sleep Disruptors™ report?
The Sleep Disruptors™ report from the Airthings Wave Enhance is a daily summary in the Airthings app that identifies which air quality and environmental factors disrupted your sleep the night before — high CO₂, dry or humid air, ambient noise, light levels, or VOCs. The Sleep Disruptors report uses readings from the Wave Enhance to help you isolate and address what's keeping you from a restful night.
Does the Airthings Wave Enhance need WiFi?
The Airthings Wave Enhance uses Bluetooth by default and syncs data to the Airthings app when your phone is within Bluetooth range. For remote access, alerts, and always-on connectivity, plug a View Plus into USB-C and it acts as a hub for the Wave Enhance through Airthings SmartLink. This bundle includes both monitors, so you get full hub-connected functionality out of the box.
Why does the Airthings Wave Enhance track noise and light?
Noise and light are two of the most common environmental disruptors of sleep alongside air quality. The Airthings Wave Enhance measures ambient sound levels in decibels (dBA) and light intensity — not as a recording device, but to identify patterns. If your CO₂ readings look good but you're still waking up tired, the Sleep Disruptors™ report can flag a light source or background noise as the likely cause.
How is this bundle different from the Airthings View Plus Duo?
The Airthings View Plus Duo includes two View Plus monitors — best when you want full seven-sensor coverage, including radon, in two living spaces. The View Plus + Wave Enhance Bundle pairs one full-feature monitor with a sleep-focused monitor at a lower price — best when one of the two rooms is a bedroom, where sleep environment and CO₂ tracking matter more than radon coverage.
Does the Airthings Wave Enhance record sound?
No. The Airthings Wave Enhance does not record audio of any kind. The sound level sensor takes a measurement every 6 seconds for a duration of 60 milliseconds, measuring ambient noise in decibels (dBA) to show background noise trends. Isolated loud sounds are unlikely to be reflected in the averaged readings.
How long do the batteries last?
The Airthings View Plus runs on 6 AA batteries with up to 2 years of battery life, or optional USB-C power. The Airthings Wave Enhance runs on 2 AA batteries with up to 17 months of battery life when hub-connected through a View Plus via Airthings SmartLink, or up to 14 months on Bluetooth Low Energy.
How long do the sensors take to calibrate?
Most sensors are accurate from day one. On the Airthings View Plus, the VOC and CO₂ sensors need up to 7 days to calibrate fully. On the Airthings Wave Enhance, CO₂, humidity, temperature, pressure, noise, and light are ready from day one, while the VOC sensor takes up to 7 days to acclimate to the room.
What warranty comes with the bundle?
The Airthings View Plus + Wave Enhance Bundle includes a standard manufacturer warranty plus a free 5-year extended warranty when you register each device within 30 days of purchase at airthings.com. Registration is free and does not affect your statutory rights.

Air quality control

Frequently asked questions

Why would I need two devices?

An air quality monitor can only accurately measure the air in one room. If you want to know the air quality in multiple rooms, such as your living room and bedroom, we recommend placing a monitor in each room.

How will I know if there is an air quality problem?

You can access your air quality data from anywhere using the Airthings app. Additionally, we send push notifications through the app to alert you if any aspect of your indoor air is unhealthy. Each monitor also has a green, yellow or red glow indicator for quick air quality checks.

How will I know how to improve my indoor air quality?

The Airthings app provides tailored, practical advice on how to address air quality issues as they arise. Often, the solutions are simple, such as opening a window or door, turning on a kitchen fan, or increasing the power of an air purifier. Whatever your air quality concerns, there is a solution, and you can use your air quality monitor to track improvements and ensure your actions are having a positive effect.

Where should I place my device?

Ideally, place your air quality monitor near areas where you spend the most time, but at least 3 feet away from you. Avoid placing the device too close to windows, doors or air vents, as these can skew the readings.
