One of the largest commercial property companies in the United Kingdom chooses Airthings to support their WELL Portfolio Program

London, 17 March 2022: Airthings, global leaders in indoor air quality solutions, today announced a new contract with UK based commercial property developers and investors, Landsec. The Airthings for Business solution, including over 600 Airthings View Plus for Business monitors, will be deployed in various Landsec buildings.

Landsec conducted an evaluation of multiple sensor providers in early 2021 and chose to partner with Airthings to monitor the indoor air quality of its buildings. One key differentiating factor being that the Airthings monitors are simple to install. A proof of concept was installed in Landsec’s flexible office, Myo, located at 123 Victoria Street, London in early 2022. After a successful trial, the green light was given to roll out Airthings monitors across other buildings.

“We’re very pleased to have been chosen by Landsec to integrate our devices into their buildings”, said Oyvind Birkenes, CEO of Airthings. “Our monitors are easily deployable, and we see that companies truly value the ease with which they can integrate them in their existing buildings.”

Landsec became the first UK REIT to sign up to the WELL Portfolio Program in 2021 with a key objective to provide a healthy and safe environment for office workers to return to after working from home for an extensive period of time. Monitoring and raising awareness around air quality is a fundamental part of this as Airthings is fully compliant with WELL requirements.

David Wickens, Operations Director at Landsec said: “Wellbeing in the workplace has become increasingly important over the past two years, with businesses understandably looking for spaces which support the health of their people. At Landsec, we recognize that when wellbeing is prioritized, spaces can make people healthier, happier and more productive, an ethos which runs through the design of our places. Air quality plays a big part in this and, by partnering with Airthings, we can continue to improve the experience of the people using our office space even further.”

Landsec will integrate the Airthings monitors in 19 of its buildings across London over the next month, with the project being run via the company’s facility management provider, NG Bailey. “Our aim is to provide customers with Exceptional Environments and working with Landsec and Airthings has provided valuable data to help us drive better performing buildings”, said Chris Coath, Director of Energy and Asset Management at NG Bailey. “The system is fast to deploy, set up and commission, with data in the hands of our Technical Operations Centre (TOC) within hours.”
