Radon Prone Areas

Is your home at risk from radon?

Did you know that radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in Canada? According to Health Canada, over 1 in 10 Canadian homes exceed the national radon gas safety guideline of 200 Bq/m³. Some of the highest radon readings in the world have been recorded here.

Radon is everywhere, but levels can vary drastically between regions and even between neighboring homes. Use the Airthings radon map to see if your area is radon-prone, then measure your home's radon level to stay protected.

Wildfire Prone Areas

Even distant wildfires can impact home air quality

Wildfires don’t need to be close to affect your home. Fine particles (PM2.5) from wildfire smoke can travel hundreds of kilometres and easily seep indoors.

Poor outdoor air can mean poor indoor air unless your home is protected. Check the map to see if your area is impacted by wildfire smoke, and take control of your air quality today.

Why should every home measure radon?

Radon is a colorless, odorless natural gas that can build up inside homes. Long-term exposure to high levels of radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the US and Canada. The only way to know if your home has high levels of radon is to measure for it.

Why should I measure PM2.5?

Wildfire smoke contains small particles, also known as PM2.5. These particles are small enough to bypass your lungs’ defenses, meaning they can be deeply inhaled, potentially entering your bloodstream. Exposure to unsafe levels of PM2.5 can worsen asthma, trigger cardiovascular problems, and affect long-term health.

Reviews

Airthings customers on the benefits of radon monitoring

“I have had this unit (View Plus) for almost 2 years now, I will buy another. It literally saved my life! I had Radon levels above 7pCi/L and had been living with it without knowing it, for almost 3 years. It has been an absolute godsend to have in our home. ”

Nick

“This is my second Airthings monitor (View Radon). Even the technician who installed my radon mitigation system said these devices are excellent for homeowner use. Right out of the box, it is easy to set up with their very helpful instructions and app. Helpful information is available through the app which tells you how to improve air quality and what you might be concerned with. Highly recommend it!”

Kevin

“This is a great product (View Radon) which I can leave in my basement and forget about it. It's constantly plugged in with the supplied USB cable. I can see the reading on the unit and on the app anytime. ”

rshah2010

“Very accurate & a life saver. We didn't know we had high radon levels until we got this monitor (Corentium Home). We have since had a radon test to backup the monitor & a mitigation fan to eliminate the radon. The monitor now reads acceptable levels & we have peace of mind. I would definitely recommend this if you are having doubts about radon levels in your home.”

Keetee

“Move into a new home with HIGH radon reading. Bought this (Corentium Home) for surveillance after remediation. Numbers came back the same as professional's equipment. Feeling comfortable that my home is safe for my family.”

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need more than one air quality monitor?
Different areas in your home can have very different air quality. Radon levels may be high in your basement, while wildfire smoke or CO₂ can build up in a bedroom or living room. One monitor offers insight, but multiple give you full peace of mind about your home's air quality. Plus, with our exclusive Canada-only offer, you save 20% when you buy up to 3 devices.

Can wildfires that are far away still affect my indoor air quality?
Wildfire smoke doesn’t need to be close to affect your home's indoor air quality and health. PM2.5 particles from wildfires can travel hundreds, and even thousands, of kilometres. For example, a fire in Alberta or British Columbia can still affect air quality in Manitoba or Ontario days later. These particles easily enter your home through windows, doors, and ventilation systems.

Where I live isn't red on the radon map, should I test?
Yes. Health Canada strongly recommends that every home should test for radon, especially all ground or basement-level rooms. Even if your area appears orange or yellow on the map, your home could still have high radon levels. Radon exposure depends on your home’s structure, foundation, and airflow, not just your postal code.

Can I use the 20% coupon on 3 of the same air quality monitors?
Yes! You can mix and match or buy 3 of the same device; whatever suits your needs. The 20% discount applies to any combination of up to 3 products.

Is the coupon limited to Canada?
Yes, this offer is currently available only to customers in Canada.

What is PM2.5 and why does it matter?
PM2.5 refers to fine particulate matter from smoke and air pollution. High levels can be inhaled deeply and affect your lungs, cardiovascular system and long-term health. View Plus helps you track PM2.5 in real time.
